Nicole Anderson came to jewelry design accidentally one summer when she was interning at Dana Buchman. When scouring stores around the city looking for needles and sample ribbon for a knitwear designer, she decided, on a whim, to pick up some pliers, gold wire and semi-precious stones. She returned home that night and began experimenting with different designs and materials, never having made or created jewelry before. Two months later, by the end of August, she was selling her jewelry in the Hamptons.
Nicole's jewelry is centered around the concept of weightless — in all her work, she aspires to create a sense of fragility and balance even when juxtaposing heavier elements into her pieces.
Nicole's work has been sold in stores and galleries in the Hamptons, New York City and Upstate New York. She has also worked on various projects including trunk shows, charity events and custom designed jewelry for bridal parties.
In the Press: Nicole Gates Designs was included in the Weekend Features segment, "Hot Jewelry Trends for Summer," on NY 1 in Summer 2006.
